Biography
Claire H. Skubik is from Lexington, Kentucky, and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Eastern Kentucky University with a concentration in ceramics. She went through the Spanish Immersion Program, where she fostered a love for language and its expression; writing has an intimate connection to human experience and can convey the soul. This interest in extant and asemic forms of writing recurs in her collages, paintings, and ceramic work. Her time as an athlete was deeply moving, with discipline continuing to inform her work—seeking structure, linework, and precise form. Through these combined methods and media, she attempts to discuss matters close to the soul: spirituality, nature, and heart, as honestly as one may.
